What will I be doing?

The level 2 (intermediate) apprenticeship, will be your career launching point in this sector, giving you a foundation of knowledge in health and social care. The apprenticeship is split into two pathways: dementia care, and learning disability care.

You will receive on the job training and off the job learning and guidance by Babington, which includes coaching, e-learning, and group learning with your tutor.

On this apprenticeship, you will learn skills such as:

      • How to implement person-centered approaches in Health and Social Care
      • Understanding mental well-being and mental health promotion
      • Understanding the role of communication with individuals who have dementia or a learning disability
      • Learning about impact of acquired brain injury on individual
      • Providing support for therapy sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

On completion of Health and Social Care Level 2, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) and a Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult social Care (QCF). If required, you will also achieve Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics and English.

What are the entry requirements?

As with all apprenticeships, the only entry requirements are that you can demonstrate a basic ability with maths and English.

It is of course important that you are passionate about the industry, as well as understanding, respectful, and eager to do well.

What can I do afterwards?

This qualification prepares you to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. It also confirms that you are capable to hold roles such as care assistant, support worker, and healthcare assistant in both residential and domiciliary settings.
